Lydia Maskiell

Bachelor of Environmental Design (Interior design)

Lydia is the founding director of Lydia Maskiell Interiors. She gained her start in the interior world in 2011 at a small bespoke practice in Canada. Amid the ski slopes, she not only met the affable Gene Simmons but also developed an inquisitive understanding of colour, form, composition and the layering of finishes. Fast forward through an Interior Architecture degree, an early career with one of Tasmania’s leading architecture practices, and the foundation of her own award-winning studio, Lydia has followed the breadcrumbs to her purpose.

Fuelled by double shot almond lattes and an unstoppable imagination, Lydia sees every project as an opportunity to build on existing ideas and rethink new possibilities. She is the eternal ideas woman, offering expert knowledge and advice across projects of all scopes and scales, rendering each as wholly unique.

Lydia has undertaken specialist training in Healthy Homes through the Australian College of Environmental Studies, with a focus on building biology principles and health hazards in the home. This conscious layer of design ensures her work is not only timeless and award-winning, but also supports the people who live within the spaces she creates.

In a parallel universe, Lydia’s innate moves and appreciation for iconic 80’s dancing could have seen her jazzercising as an aerobics instructor but her creativity and zest for colour have thankfully been harnessed for the greater world of interiors
